That answer always lies within YOU.
You are in charge of your own healing process. The Reiki practitioner is simply a vessel for the energy, allowing it to go where it is needed most.
Your comfort is the most important.
You remain fully clothed, removing shoes and glasses. Using blankets and pillows find a comfortable position that works best for you. Sitting up or laying down, honouring what you need at this present moment.
It's important to remember that you are very much a part of your Reiki sessions and healing process. Set a clear intention to be open to the energy going where it is needed most.
During the treatment some clients may experience a feeling of waves of subtle energy gently moving through their body. Others may experience heat or coolness and perhaps even see comforting colours or visions. While these are normal responses, it is also normal to feel nothing at all, but still be left with a sense of deep relaxation.
You do not have to lay completely still. its ok to move and readjust. It's ok to fall asleep or go into a deep meditative state. This is always welcomed because that means natural healing can occur where you need it most.
If gentle touch is necessary, I will request permission and always inform you exactly where I will be touching you. With your consent we proceed with treatment. Traditional hand placements are frequently used around the head, neck, shoulders, elbows, hands, knees and feet. Whether hands on or hands off, the Reiki practitioner is trained to allow the energy to flow to the client, who receives it where you need it most.
There is no attempt to manipulate the energy in anyway, as the practitioner is trained to release all ego and be in a space of non-judgment and compassion.
It's important to remember that Reiki works on all levels, the energy could be working on the physical, emotional, mental and spiritual level.
Reiki is experiential, each one of us is unique and our healing journeys have different paths. That makes explaining what to expect difficult because everyone will have a unique experience during their session.
After the session is complete, you are given the time you need and when your ready if you like we can meet over the phone or zoom to discuss the session and ask any questions.
Some people may experience tears or a runny nose after a session. It can be a sign that the body, mind and spirit are finding its way back to balance.
Your first Reiki session can bring about personal change, inner balance, clarity and a spark in your intuitive guidance.
This may open the door to a journey of deep personal healing and self-discovery.
Set aside some time after a session to allow the practice to settle within your being.
Drinking lots of water helps flush out your system. Be mindful of how much water you drink in the days following a session.
Eat fresh and nourishing foods for the rest of the day (week). Processed food and refined sugars make us feel heavy and deplete our energy.
Start a journal. Write down things you notice during your session. Do you have any reoccurring thoughts or emotions?Perhaps some new and exciting ideas are forming. Take note!
Know that whatever your feeling is ok. Nothing is permanent, even joy or happiness. As we accept that our feeling change we become better equipped to deal with the whole range of emotions.
When you come for Reiki session with me, I am available to you for post treatment support. As a Reiki practitioner I feel my responsibility doesn’t end when you leave the room. Reiki enters our lives when it is meant too and I’m here to share the journey with you.
